Carbon offsetting is an internationally accepted practice to cancel out inevitable carbon emissions. What you do is compensate for all the harmful emissions of a person or institution by avoiding a similar amount of emissions from going into the atmosphere somewhere else on the Planet.
When seen in terms of climate alone, offsetting only makes sense if it serves to bridge the period where there is no other alternative available........while the industry takes action to reduce its own emissions. A technological potential and commitment to develop a low carbon or carbon free product must exist.

The main purpose of this project activity is to generate clean electricity through renewable solar energy sources. The project involves a total capacity of 977 MW from installations in Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana states of India developed by the SPVs of ReNew Power Limited. Over the 10 years of first crediting period, the project will replace approximately 1,511,532 tCO2e per year, thereon displacing 1,595,299 MWh/year amount of electricity from the Indian grid, which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel-based power plant.

The use of open fires and solid fuels for cooking is one of the world’s most pressing health and environmental problems, directly impacting close to half the world’s population and causing nearly 4 million premature deaths each year.
The project involves distribution of fuel-efficient improved cookstoves (ICS) in Malawi. The ICS disseminated through this project will replace the baseline cookstoves. Through this project, the distribution and installation of approximately 500,000 ICS will be undertaken for households in Malawi. It is intended that under this project single pot, TLC-CQC Rocket Stove will be distributed. The ICS will burn wood more efficiently thereby improving thermal transfer to pots, hence saving fuel. Not only will this halt the rapidly progressing deforestation in Malawi but will also reduce health hazards from indoor smoke pollution and women and children will have to spend less time collecting firewood.

The purpose of the project activity is to produce renewable electricity using wind as the power source and to contribute to Turkey is growing electricity demand through a sustainable and low carbon technology. The project will displace the same amount of electricity generated by the grid dominated with fossil fired power plants.
